The meeting was called to order by Mr. Ted Bowen, Chairman of
the Board of Regents, at 1:00 p.m. March 19, 1984.

President Johnson reported on Agenda Item No. I discussing
the benefits and drawbacks of synthetic and natural turf.
Because of spending constraints, the concensus of the Board
was to carry this item over to the October 1984 or January
1985 Board Meeting.
No formal voting action was taken.

Upon motion of Regent Justice, seconded by Regent Murphy, with
all members voting aye, it was ordered that President Johnson
be authorized to work with Bob Provan and the representative,
Larry King, from the Attorney General's office to prepare an
agreement through negotiations with the plaintiff's attorney
in the Annie M. Carpenter V. Stephen F. Austin State University,
Et Al. Case, which may be presented to the court in a hearinq
set for March 22, 1984.
