This
elaborate
example
of a
lard
press
includes
a
long
board
mounted
on
four
legs
, and an
extension
with a
notch
in the
top
that
supports
a
handle
that
pivots
on a
peg
. A
plunger
device
is
mounted
on the
handle
, and
when
depressed
it
is
inserted
into a
metal
can
with
holes
at the
bottom
. This
can
is
positioned
inside
a
shallow
pail
with
two
handles
. The
lard
press
was
used
to
squeeze
the
remaining
lard
from
cooked
pork
fat
.
