Spanish Colonial ring bit representing the Moorish tradition. The small dangles, known as 'ficas' often adorned bit, bridle, and saddle. Local Native Americans, interested more in the iron which the bit offered than in the intended use of the bit, recycled ring bits into scrapers, jewelry and more. Consequently, few of these bits are recovered intact.
