uniforms

piece
is
designed
with
white
beads
and
fringe
, and was
thought
to be
worn
by
Encarnacion
Chireno
,
who
died
in the
Battle
of
Nacogdoches
in
1832
.
Scope and Content Note
The ceinture flechee, or woven sash, was made by local Native Americans out of unraveled Spanish uniforms. Reported to have been worn by Encarnacion Chireno, leader of the Nacogdoches' troops, during the Battle of Nacogdoches in 1832.
