In the
United
States
, the
Speckled
Racer
only
occurs
in
extreme
southern
Texas
where
it
is
considered
a
threatened
species
. The
range
of the
Specked
Racer
continues
south
into
northern
South
America
and
Colombia
.
Racers
are
very
fast-moving
snakes
that
use
their
speed
to
quickly
escape
predators
or
other
threats
.
