The
Smallmouth
Salamander
gets
its
name
from its
small
head
and
mouth
relative
to
other
species
.
It
is
most
often
encountered
in
moist
environments
under
debris
near
bodies
of
water
. The
Smallmouth
Salamander
mostly
feed
on
small
insects
and
arthropods
,
worms
, and
small
aquatic
invertebrates
. Its
chief
predators
include
other
salamanders
,
snakes
, and
birds
.
