The
Mississippi
Slimy
Salamander
ranges
from
southwestern
Kentucky
to
southeastern
Louisiana
.
Slimy
Salamanders
inhabit
moist
areas
of
deciduous
forests
in the
eastern
United
States
. They are
usually
found
beneath
large
stones
or
woody
debris
where
they
feed
on
small
invertebrates
such
as
snails
,
centipedes
,
spiders
, and
mites
. The
Slimy
Salamander
gets
its
name
from a
sticky
substance
that
is
secreted
from its
skin
glands
.
