The
Razorback
Musk
Turtle
gets
its
name
from a
sharp
mid-dorsal
keel
that
runs
down
the
length
of its
carapace
.
It
is
a
member
of the
family
Kinosternidae
,
which
includes
all
musk
turtles
,
so
named
because
of an
odorous
substance
secreted
from
glandular
openings
on
each
side
of the
body
. In the
wild
,
razorbacks
are
found
along
the
Gulf
Coastal
Plain
in
Oklahoma
,
Arkansas
,
Mississippi
,
Louisiana
, and
Texas
.
