The
diet
of the
Eastern
Black-Necked
Garter
Snake
consists
largely
of
frogs
,
tadpoles
, and
fish
.
Toads
are
eaten
sparingly
. Its
range
includes
the
Edward's
Plateau
in
Texas
,
most
of
New
Mexico
,
eastern
Arizona
, and
extends
to
include
most
of
Mexico
. The
Eastern
Black-Necked
Garter
Snake
rarely
bites
when
handled
;
however
,
true
to
garter
snake
form
,
it
will not
hesitate
to
musk
and
defecate
on its
handler
.
