The
flathead
snake
is
a
burrowing
snake
typically
encountered
in
rocky
areas
in
open
forests
.
Prey
items
of the
flathead
snake
include
beetle
larvae
,
centipedes
, and
snails
.
Because
of its
relatively
tiny
size
, this
snake
is
unable
to
consume
the
same
kinds
prey
items
as
many
other
snakes
,
such
as
lizards
and
small
mammals
. In
fact
, these
snakes
are
often
mistaken
for
earthworms
!
