The
Texas
Alligator
Lizard
is
a
slow-moving
lizard
that
prefers
well-vegetated
rocky
hillsides
where
it
forages
for
small
invertebrates
.
Larger
individuals
may
have a
painful
bite
,
so
it
is
best
to
handle
these
lizards
with
care
or not at
all
. The
Texas
Alligator
Lizard
may
be
distinguished
from
other
similar
lizards
in an
area
by the
presence
of a
lateral
groove
.
