Skinks
are
most
common
in
damp
wooded
areas
where
they
seek
refuge
in
rotting
logs
or
under
woody
debris
. In
Texas
, these
lizards
are
often
seen
climbing
trees
. The
Five-Lined
Skink
preys
upon
crickets
,
spiders
,
centipedes
,
grasshoppers
, and
other
small
invertebrates
.
Like
many
lizards
, the
Five-Lined
Skink
has a
tail
that will
break
off
when
held
on to by a
predator
.
