Description
The
Spotted
Salamander
is
a
species
of
mole
salamander
found
in the
Eastern
United
States
and
Canada
.
Spotted
salamanders
are
easy
to
distinguish
from
other
salamanders
by the
two
rows
of
yellow
to
yellowish
orange
spots
that
run
down
its
dorsal
side
. They
eat
mostly
insects
and
worms
and
prefer
to
live
underground
in the
burrows
of
other
animals
. As
adults
,
spotted
salamanders
secrete
a
milky
toxin
to
guard
against
predation
.
