The
Blue
Spiny
Lizard
eats
a
variety
of
insects
and
spiders
, but
seems
to
prefer
those that
fly
.
Females
are
usually
very
drab
in
coloration
compared
to
males
,
though
both
male
and
females
possess
a
distinct
blue
patch
on their
shoulders
. The
Blue
Spiny
Lizard
is
often
seen
basking
on
rocks
, but
is
also
encountered
hiding
in
rock
crevices
to
escape
heat
and
predation
. This
lizard
is
found
in
arid
environments
from
southeastern
Texas
into
northern
Mexico
.
