The
distribution
of the
Texas
Indigo
Snake
is
limited
to the
southermost
counties
of
Texas
and into
Mexico
. These
snakes
prefer
mesquite
savannah
,
brush
woodlands
, and
grassy
plains
near
wet
areas
such
as
streams
and
resacas
where
they
forage
for
just
about
anything
that they are
capable
of
swallowing
,
including
other
snakes
. As
juveniles
,
however
, they
almost
exclusively
eat
fish
.
