Description
The
Rich
Mountain
Salamander
inhabits
forested
areas
in the
Ouachita
Mountains
at
elevations
usually
ranging
between
450
and
870
meters
.
It
prefers
to
live
under
woody
debris
,
where
it
feeds
on
small
arthropods
,
such
as
beetles
,
mites
, and
centipedes
. The
Rich
Mountain
Salamander
shares
its
habitat
with the
Slimy
Salamander
, but
behaves
aggressively
towards
it
,
often
times
overtaking
objects
under
which
it
shelters
.
