This image appeared in the 06-17-1952 edition of The Pine Log . Its caption reads "SCHOOLDAYS ' activities for second grade pupils of the North Elementary school at Stephen F . Austin State College are depicted in the hook rug shown here. Th[e] work by the pupils in Miss Lessie Carlton's 1950 class has been presented to the college . multi-colored , the rug shows in the center the Thomas J . Rusk building in which the classes met . At the time , the school was operated by the college and served as demonstration institute for prospective teachers ; although Miss Carlton was a fulltime teacher . The name of Demonstration school and SFA officials are included in the work , among them: Dr . Paul L . Boynton , SFA president ; Miss Sugene Spears , his secretary ; Dr . T.E . Ferguson , dean of the college ; Mrs . Doris Boozer Richardson , his secretary ; Dr . L.W . Ellerbrook then director of the school and now an education professor ; Mrs . Frances Carrol , his secretary ; and S.W . McKewen , registrar of the college . The Easter basket , heart , birthday cake , airplane , and other objects shown on the rug depict various activities of the students . The Radio Station KSFA microphone represents a radio show done by Mrs . Elizabeth Davis and Mrs . Hayden Whitley then of the school library and teaching staff . Miss Carlton now teaches at Nebraska State Teachers College in Peru. "

The Robinson Photo Studio, owned and operated by Charles Robinson, was located in Nacogdoches from 1951-1986. During those 35 years, Robinson documented events and people all over East Texas.
Scope and Content Note
The collection consists of approximately 70,000 photographs ranging from portraits to weddings to school events.
