. The
Dials
were
early
settlers
to the
area
before
the
town
was
established
along
the
Kansas
&
Gulf
Short
Line
Railroad
(later
Cotton
Belt)
. The
boarding
house
was
later
sold
to
other
owners
and
closed
in the
early
1900s
. The
house
is
an
example
of
National
folk
architecture
demonstrating
the
Front
Gable
and
Wing
style
. This
style
,
built
circa
1860s-1890
, was
more
prevalent
in the
north
as
opposed
to the
more
commonly
occurring
hall-and-parlor
plans
in the
south
.
