The
Tamaulipan
Cantil
occurs
in
mesquite
grassland
,
deciduous
forest
, and
thorn
scrub
habitats
in
northeastern
Mexico
.
Cantil
bites
can
be
extremely
dangerous
and
medical
care
should be
sought
immediately
after
possible
envenomation
. The
Tamaulipan
Cantil
is
also
known
as the
Mexican
Moccasin
and
Taylor's
Cantil
. This
snake
was
named
in
honor
of
Edward
Harrison
Taylor
, and
American
herpetologist
.
