About this collection

The Sterne-Hoya home was built c. 1830 by prominent Nacogdoches citizen Adolphus Sterne and currently owned, maintained and operated by the City of Nacogdoches Historic Sites Department. Only two immigrant families, Sterne and von der Hoya, owned the home. According to the website the museums’ mission is “to preserve the Adolphus Sterne home and the artifacts within it; to educate the public about the history of the region with special emphasis on the Sterne and von der Hoya families; and to interpret the architectural structures and material culture of the museum in such a way that visitors may discover, learn and delight in the history of Texas from the early 19th to the early 20th centuries." The digital collection contains scrapbooks from the library’s collection.
