In 2008, after receiving a grant from the National Park Service’s Preserve America Grant Program, the City of Nacogdoches and Stephen F. Austin State University began a cemetery interpretation project. Along with city personal the task involved three SFASU colleges (Arthur Temple College of Forestry & Agriculture, College of Liberal & Applied Arts and the College of Education) and the university’s Ralph W. Steen Library. The project seeks to raise awareness of important cultural resources, our cemeteries, by preserving and interpreting these historic sites. This digital collection is a small part of the total project.
