George Foreman, while well known as a professional boxer and entrepreneur, is also a noted preacher. In the early 1980's he became an ordained minister and began delivering sermons at The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is located in Houston, Texas. He has continued this service up to today.
The sermons in this collection show Foreman speaking on a variety of topics as related to his religion, God and life. In these we can see him speaking on the importance of giving, on the fulfillment of responsibilities and other topics. These sermons were delivered between 2008 and 2010.
Donation of Materials
In July of 2011, George Foreman donated his personal papers, including his sermons, and other documents to the East Texas Research Center at Stephen F. Austin State University. A native of East Texas, Foreman made this gift so that future generations may see the importance he placed on activities other than professional sports.
At the announcement of his gift, Foreman was in turn given the Stephen F. Austin State University's Lifetime Cultural Achievement Award. This award followed Foreman's participation in the Archie McDonald Speaker Series, in which he took part in April 2010.
