Manuscript CollectionsThe ETRC cares for roughly 500 manuscript collections which include diaries, letters, land records, memoirs and other papers from individuals, families, businesses, and organizations related to the East Texas region. Forest HistoryThe ETRC is home to the business records from a number of East Texas lumber companies, including the Kirby Lumber Company and the Thompson Brothers’ Lumber Company. Over 100 items, mainly photographs, can be viewed here. (Image of "Child Cooking")

University ArchivesThe ETRC maintains the university’s inactive records. These collections come from university departments, offices, organizations, and publications. Around 200 items can be viewed here. (Image of "At the SUB, 1956")
The East Texas Research Center collects, preserves and provides access to archival material related to eastern Texas life, culture, economy and history. The ETRC serves as a Regional Historical Resource Depository for the State of Texas and manages Stephen F. Austin State University’s Record Management Program and the university’s archives. The ETRC is located on the second floor of the Ralph W. Steen Library on the SFASU campus. Material is chosen for digitization and inclusion in Digital Archives & Collections based on preservation and access needs.
