Subject	Looms Weaving Textiles
Description	This handmade wooden counterbalance loom has four harnesses and is assembled with wooden pegs. When any two of its harnesses are raised, two other harnesses are lowered. It is the most common type of loom and was used weave yarn into cloth with a symmetrical, or balanced, pattern. A weaver's bench is included with the loom.
Scope and Content Note	Hand made loom, circa 1882, was assembled wih wooden pegs, used string needles as opposed to the metal ones common today. The lumber used is from native wood and was built by craftsmen of the W.C Watters family. Loom was donated by descendant.
