Personal Information	Ira Link Sturdevant was born on August 15, 1857 in Anderson County. In May 21, 1883 Sturdevant went to Nacogdoches as a representative of the Henderson commission firm of Crow and Baldwin and within a year bought Crow and Baldwin. He operated the business until 1900. Sturdevant and E. C. Branch brought the first telephones and light plant to Nacogdoches. Later Sturdevant worked as a cashier for the Stone Fort bank that he helped organize in 1903. He became president of the bank and held that position until 1939 when he became an elected chairman of the board. Sturdevant served in the Stone Fort Rifles, part of the state militia, and became known as Captain Sturdevant. Captain Sturdevant participated in the volunteer fire department, rotarty club, and Methodist Church.
Family Information	Ira Sturdevant and Abigail Vieley Sturdevant were the parents of Ira Link Sturdevant. Ira Link Sturdevant and his wife, Carrie Baker Sturdevant, had two daughters Margaret and Carolyn.
