commission
firm

Crow

Baldwin
. He
operated
the
business
until
1900

Branch
brought
the
first
telephones
and
light
plant
to
Nacogdoches
.
Later
Sturdevant
worked
as a
cashier
for the
Stone
Fort
bank
that he
helped
organize
in
1903
. He
became
president
of the
bank
and
held
that
position
until
1939
when
he
became
an
elected
chairman
of the
board
.
Sturdevant
served
in the
Stone
Fort
Rifles
,
part
of the
state
militia
, and
became
known
as
Captain
Sturdevant
.

Sturdevant
participated
in the
volunteer
fire
department
,
rotarty
club
, and
Methodist
Church
.
