Biographical Note	Orlando Thacker Hanks (1844-1926) married Susan Pernella Thacker, Nov. 24, 1872 and their union produced nine children. Hanks fought with Company K, Captain Benjamin Franklin Benton's Company, 1st Texas Infantry Hood's Texas Brigade during the Civil War. His reminiscences have been published in "A Yellow Rose in Old Dominion: the Civil War Reminisc[enc]es of Orlando T. Hanks" by Jonathan D. Hood, and "History of Captain B. F. Benton's Company, Hood's Texas Brigade, 1861-1865" published by Morrison Books, Austin, 1984.
Scope and Content Note	Original handwritten and typescript account of the experiences of Col. B.F. Benton's Company of Hood's Brigade during the Civil War, 1861-1865. Written from memory ca. 1914-1915. Includes biographical material on the Hanks family.
