CONLON- Executive Director * * * * * * * * SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK OF O.CTOBER 31, 1983 MONDAY, OCTOBER 31 (House meets at noon) Suspensions -- Seven bills are scheduled for consideration under suspension of the rules (page 1), including H.J.Res. 402, which invokes the War Powers Resolution regarding the deployment of u.s. forces in Grenada, thereby placing a 60- to 90-day limit on the presence of American troops in that country (page 8). Record Votes -- Record votes ordered today on bills considered under suspension of the rules will be postponed until Tuesday . Hazardous Waste -- H.R. 2867, Hazardous Waste Control and Enforcement Act , complete consideration (page 10). TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1 (House meets at noon) Record Votes -- Record votes ordered on Monday for bills considered under suspension of the rules will be tiken today. Agriculture Agpropriations --The conference ' report on H.R. 3223, Agriculture Appropriations for FY 1984, may be considered t oday (page 23) • Defense Appropriations -- H.R. 4185, Defense Department Appropriations for FY 1984 (page 25). See DSG Fact Sheet No. 98-18, October 21. There will be a key vote on an amendment to cut off funds for u. s. military operations in Lebanon. WEDNESDAY & BALANCE OF THE WEEK, NOVEMBER 2, 3, & 4 (House meets at 10 a.m. each day) Defense Appropriations -- H.R. 4185, Defense Department Appropriations for FY 1984, complete consideration (page 25). Revenue Increases-- H.R. 4170, Tax Reform Act (page 35) . There will be a key vote on an amendment dealing with Medicare reimbursement of physicians intended to help meet the spending reduction mandates of the budget resolution, and on three amendments designed to meet the revenue mandates of the budget resolution. Biographical Note | Congressman Charles Wilson began his political career in 1960 when he was elected to the Texas House of Representatives. He served in the Texas House of Representatives for six years and was then elected to the Texas Senate in 1966. On November 7, 1972, the second district of Texas elected Charles Wilson to the U.S. House of Representatives. He retired from the U.S. House of Representatives in 1996. |
