SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK OF JANUARY 5, 1981
MONDAY, JAN. 5 (House meets at noon)
Opening Day Business - - In addition to the swearing-in of
the Members and election of the Speaker, the House will
take up a number of routine housekeeping measures, such as
setting the daily hour of meeting, electing House
officers, notifying the Senate and President the House
has convened, etc.
Rules of the House -- H.Res. ? will provide for the
standing rules of the 97th Congress (page 1).
TUESDAY, JAN. 6 (House meets at noon)
Counting Electoral Votes -- Pursuant to the Constitution,
a joint session of Congress will meet to count electoral
votes and formally declare Ronald Reagan President-elect
and George Bush Vice President-elect.
WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY & FRIDAY, JAN. 7,8, & 9

| Biographical Note | Congressman Charles Wilson began his political career in 1960 when he was elected to the Texas House of Representatives. He served in the Texas House of Representatives for six years and was then elected to the Texas Senate in 1966. On November 7, 1972, the second district of Texas elected Charles Wilson to the U.S. House of Representatives. He retired from the U.S. House of Representatives in 1996. |
